More than half a million pounds worth of quality goods have been redirected from landfill to UK charities since the launch of Giving World Online.

The free website was set up in December 2008 to encourage businesses to publicise surplus stock online and donate the goods directly onto charities and community projects.

Giving World Online say that over 66 tonnes of goods have already been diverted from landfill with over 450 charities registered on the site. Items donated include educational materials, clothing, toiletries, toys, office equipment and furniture.
