Tesco collects used electrical goods to benefit Cancer Research UK

Howard Lake | 21 June 2012 | News

This week is Recycle Week (18 to 24 June), and Tesco is encouraging shoppers to donate used electrical items so that it can recycle them and raise funds for Cancer Research UK, Tesco Charity of the Year 2012.
The supermarket is asking people to trade in items including old MP3 players, digital cameras and TVs at Tesco. They can take part in Tesco’s Electrical Trade-in by visiting the campaign’s website to find out how much each item is worth. They can then trade them in in throughout the year at selected Tesco stores or post them using a free label that can be downloaded from the website.
Claire Rowney, Cancer Research UK’s head of corporate partnerships, said: “Whenever we buy a new mobile phone or MP3 player it’s always difficult to know what to do with the old ones… Tesco’s Electrical Trade-in is a great way to declutter and raise money to support Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and scientists beat cancer at the same time.”
