BHF's The Big Donation

The British Heart Foundation (BHF) has announced that it is appealing for 350,000 bags of donated goods for its shops in the 30 days of September. The charity says that the appeal, which it calls The BIG Donation, is “the biggest stock appeal seen in the UK”.

The BHF has launched the appeal in response to a 20% fall in donations to its shops. If the 350,000 bags target is achieved, this should be worth £7 million to the charity.

As well as all BHF Shops, donations can be taken into participating Argos, Homebase and Lidl stores across the country, total of 2,000 "Drop Points" for the appeal.

According to the charity, the sale of one pair of good quality shoes can help a BHF Heart Nurse provide advice to one caller on the Heart HelpLine. Selling seven handbags can fund a Heartstart UK training pack to teach people what to do in a life-threatening emergency, and the sale of one sofa can fund a state of the art heart scan.

BHF Shops sell 60,000 items every day, have 15 million customers and over 14,000 volunteers.
Last year, the the shops raised over £15 million to help fund the charity’s fight against heart disease.
