Influential List merges wealth data with influence to find key individuals and organisations

Fundraising and prospect research consultancy advice2Go Ltd has published The Influential List, a new tool that aims to combine details of both wealthy individuals and organisations and those that have influence.
The service aims to help charities and voluntary organisations “find people and organisations who can make a real difference to outcomes.” These could be “acknowledged experts and influencers with consummate networking ability, [or] organisations with cutting edge knowledge and expertise”.
Advice2Go Ltd’s Director Isabel White said: “Rich people are not necessarily influential, and influential people are not necessarily rich. But when you can put the two together…”
The list is based on Advice2go’s research into unpicking the characteristics that defined success. White commented: “We now have several thousand influencers on the influential list – it may not sound a lot but you don’t need many of these people to make a difference to your organisation and the work that you do!”
The list also contains influential organisations, which can of course include those at which the influential people work, or which they have founded. These organisations range from 2nd tier and umbrella organisations, campaigning organisations, and lobbying and pressure groups, to think-tanks, venture philanthropists, academe, institutes, ad-hoc forums, social enterprises, and companies in the green, creative or knowledge economies.
The list isn’t published, but Advice2go draw on it to advise their clients.
Advice2go say that their list is useful in a number of situations. These include when organisations are launching a new service; promoting themselves to a wider audience; pursuing a major funding opportunity; looking for high profile, effective partners and collaborators; and “stepping up a division”, such as moving from a local to a national service provider.
