Each One Counts, the recycling scheme that raises money for over 30 charities, has redeveloped its website to focus on securing more users and helping them to persuade their friends and family to get involved on behalf of the charities.
The scheme is open to charities of any size and offers them and their supporters a range of tools to boost income by recycling their used printer cartridges and mobile phones. The website redesign indicates an increasing focus by Each One Counts on using online tools to increase the number of participants and the volume of their recycling.
Each One Counts manages all the collection and recycling logistics for its charity partners, who receive a payment for each recyclable item received by the organisation. All the charity needs to do to raise money through the service is to encourage their supporter base to take part.
New features on the website include an automatic ‘Thank you’ message from the charity. “We believe Each One Counts is the first recycling scheme to give supporters this basic courtesy”, said Emma Corry, Charity Account Manager, Each One Counts.
If a supporter does not use their account for some time, then they will receive a reminder email, which will also encourage them to get friends and family involved.
The system also checks if the supporter will add Gift Aid to boost their donation value. “We pioneered Gift Aid on donated goods, and the new website functionality will enable us to improve on the 60% of people signing up who already add Gift Aid”, added Corry.
Each One Counts expects the redeveloped site to help increase the email databases of charity partners, as consumers sign up to recycle their items and choose a preferred charity to benefit. It expects that this will generate new supporters for the charities. Environmental Business Products, the company that runs the site, is itself promoting the service to the public in addition to the efforts made by partner charities.
Each charity partner receives a dedicated Each One Counts web page that matches their charity corporate colours.
Environmental Business Products has raised over £3 million for a range of charities since it pioneered the collection of inkjet cartridges through charity supporters in 1992.
