Give free fivers to charity, say Liverpool shoppers
Liverpool care company Alphacare Northwest has discovered that you can’t always give money away.
In its first “Random Acts of Care Day”, dozens of life-sized Alphacare bears handed out cash to passers-by in Liverpool One. However they found that many people refused to accept the fivers on offer, asking for the money to be donated to charity instead.
Managing Director Tony Williams said: “We had thousands of pounds worth of five pound notes to give to shoppers as part of our own random act of care and to reward anyone who was kind to a stranger. But many people refused to accept anything, asking for the money to be donated to charity instead”.

As a result, Alphacare Northwest will be donating £900 to Everton in the Community.
The Random Acts of Care Day on 18 December, received backing from celebrities including TV entertainer Les Dennis, Everton player Marouane Fellaini and Hollyoaks actors Carly Stenson and John Pickard.
Alphacare Northwest said that they planned to make it an annual event.
