2008 BEN Ball raises £160,000

The Annual BEN Ball has raised almost £160,000 for the automotive industry charity.
Held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, the Ball was attended by over 700 guests. They had a four course meal and ennoyed a variety of entertainment including performances by the Rochester Cathedral Choir and the Band of the Life Guards.
BEN’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, Charles Davis, believes that the charity was extremely fortunate to be able to proceed with the 2008 Ball as planned, as many similar charity and industry events have been cancelled or postponed due to lack of support. “Since its inception in 1927 the only time the Ball has not taken place was during World War II,” he commented.
Nevertheless, the total raised is a significant drop from previous years. Davis said that “Traditionally the annual Ball is BEN’s largest fundraiser, generating a sum in the region of £270,000”. The charity did anticipate a reduced income for this year’s event.
