ITV Text Santa raises £4.2m

ITV’s Text Santa campaign has raised £4,187,686. The three-hour entertainment special was broadcast on Friday 20 December, featuring Robbie Williams, Gary Barlow, Cheryl Cole, Olly Murs, The Pogues, McFly and many other performers.
Presenters Ant and Dec interview Prime Minister David Cameron, asking him what he wanted for Christmas.
Coronation Street stars performed their version of The Pogues’ Christmas classic ‘Fairytale of New York’, which also featured the band’s singer Shane MacGowan.
Peter Fincham, ITV Director of Television, said afterwards:

“A big thank you to everyone who took part and donated in this year’s Text Santa. Their money will make a big difference to this year’s nominated charities”.

This year’s beneficiary charities are Age UK, Barnardo’s, BeatBullying, British Heart Foundation, CLIC Sargent and Help the Hospices.
