Bono – retire and we'll donate
Poor old Bono. Singer and frontman of rock group U2, philanthropist and campaigner, he is now the object of an online campaign to get him to retire.
He is the object of a campaign on online giving site The Point, entitled “Bono – retire from public life and we’ll donate a ton of money to fight AIDS”.

Set up by Chicago-based Aaron With, the campaign claims that “Bono’s philanthropy efforts are self-righteous, ineffective, & counter-productive”. It also criticises the RED Campaign with which Bono is involved.
If the campaign’s ‘tipping point’ or objective is raised, then the organiser will “release this pot of money to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria”.
The trouble is, four months in, the campaign has raised only $1,843.
Looks like Bono will be around for quite some time yet.
