Vote for MoneySavingExpert.com's new charities

Howard Lake | 16 July 2008 | News

Martin Lewis’ popular ‘consumer revenge’ webiste MoneySavingExpert.com is inviting users and visitors to vote for the site’s new charity partners. Those selected could receive up to £20,000 as a result.
The last vote took place in September 2006 and the following five charities were selected (each has so far received £20,500): Re-cycle, Cancer Research UK, Tools for Self Reliance, Different Strokes, and Usable Websites.
This year 600 nominations were received, and these have been narrowed down to 12, four of whom will join Re-cycle as the site’s beneficiary charities. The vote closes at 1pm on 22 July 2008.
Out of 3845 votes cast so far, Help for Heroes has 18% of the votes, ahead of Carers UK with 16%.
The donations will be made via the new MSE Charitable Fund.
The site receives 3 million users a month.
