New Chief Executive for RNID

RNID, the charity for deaf and hard of hearing people, has appointed Jackie Ballard as its new Chief Executive. She will take up her new post in October.

She takes over from John Low, who has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Charities Aid Foundation.

She joins the largest charity representing the UK’s nine million deaf and hard of hearing people from RSPCA where she worked for five years, including steering its successful campaign for the new Animal Welfare Act.

Commenting on her appointment, James Strachan, Chairman of RNID, said: “As well as being an accomplished leader in the voluntary sector, Jackie brings her huge experience of political affairs and a public service background to the cause of changing the world for deaf and hard of hearing people.”

Ballard will take up the RNID position on 22 October 2007.
