New Chairman at RNLI

The RNLI has named former First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Sir Jock Slater as its new Chairman.

Sir Jock has been appointed following the retirement of Peter Nicholson CBE, who has served as Chairman since July 2000.

As a member of the RNLI’s Council since 1999, Sir Jock has been Deputy Chairman since 2002. He has served on various RNLI committees including two years as Chairman of the Operations Committee between 2000 and
2002.

Since his retirement as First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff in 1998, Sir Jock’s appointments have included Chairman of the Imperial War Museum and Chairman of the White Ensign Association.
