Man Utd announces first two charity partnerships
Cystic Fibrosis Trust and the Children’s Society have become the first two national charities to benefit from Manchester United’s new charity partnerships, run by its charitable foundation.
Four charities in the north west – Francis House Children’s Hospice, The New Children’s Hospital Appeal, Rainbow House and Christie’s Hospital – will also benefit from the Foundation.
This follows a three month tender process during which the Foundation was inundated with applications, according to chief executive Trish Hirst.

The club will provide the charities with signed merchandise and offer its facilities for free to them – for example allowing use of the pitch during the summer months. The funds raised will support specific projects for each charity. For example, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will cover the patent costs associated with a gene therapy multi-dose clinical trial programme to try to find a treatmetn for the disease and Rainbow House is developing an indoor sports facility.
The agreements will all run for three years.
