Nationwide AGM vote aims to raise £100,000

Howard Lake | 15 July 2007 | News

Nationwide Building Society is once again encouraging its members to vote in its AGM by donating 10p for every vote cast to Disability Sport Events (DSE). Last year it raised £100,000 in this fashion: with online voting taking place for the first this year, the total could be even higher.

Nationwide sent voting packs to all its eligible members in June, and members until 11am today to cast their postal or online vote on the individuals they would like to elect as directors of the Society.

In addition, members have been asked to vote to endorse the building society’s decision to achieve the Business in the Community PerCent Standard, whereby it will donate at least 1% of its pre-tax profits to charity, community and environmental activities. If passed, this will be worth around £6 million in donations.
