Ghost sites in the voluntary sector infrastructure

Howard Lake | 27 September 2006 | Blogs

Before and after the dotcom crash there have been many web resources set up to help build the online infrastructure of the voluntary and community sector, but many of them were better in theory than in practice. Searching for some of them, it’s clear that they haven’t survived.
Let’s start a list of sector web resources that are no longer around. I’ll start with
Charityhelpdesk
Described by Volresource on 9 December 2004 as “a new IT support facility, run on a volunteer basis but involving a number of sector and IT specialists… it intends to be a front-line source of fire fighting help for charities and other voluntary organisations with limited means… This has been put together quite quickly from an individual’s initiative, and it will
be interesting to see how it develops.”
Any other sites with good intentions but which are no longer running?
