Patterson Ford’s intrepid explorer, Emma Stone, is planning another trek to either Jordan or Namibia to raise money for one of the North East’s most valued air services.
Emma, who is service manager at Patterson Ford’s Hexham dealership, will undertake the trek in October or November, 2007, and the funds raised will be donated to Great North Air Ambulance.
Two other Patterson employees, Terry Hunter and Graham Fergus, will accompany Emma on the trip. Graham works as a technician at Patterson’s Hexham dealership, while Terry is the service manager at the Shiremoor dealership.
The Great North Air Ambulance is an independent charity that operates in the North East and Cumbria, two of the largest and most sparsely populated areas in the UK. The aim of the charity is to constantly strive to deliver the highest standard of clinical care in the pre-hospital environment. It receives no government funding and is always appreciative of people who put themselves out to raise money to help keep this vital service going.
Emma has undertaken a number of charity treks including last year’s Rajasthan Challenge, which involved visits to Delhi and the famous walled city of Jaipur. She also took a trip along the Inca Trail in Peru in aid of Cancer Bridge and was one of four Patterson Ford trekkers who completed a seven-day walk across the Sahara in 2003, raising over £9,000 for Cancer Bridge.
Emma says: Although the trek won’t take place until next year, I’d like to start raising funds as soon as possible. I’ve always been a bit of an explorer and I thought I might as well raise money for a good cause while pursuing my hobby. Great North Air Ambulance has provided sterling service to the local community for many years and I’m looking forward to sampling the culture of either Jordan or Namibia, depending on where we decide to go.”
Sue Cave of Great North Air Ambulance, said: We rely upon the support of businesses and individuals to deliver a consistently high service to the public.
I am thrilled to hear that Emma, Graham and Terry are planning to raise money for the cause and we hope that others will also support what is an extremely worthwhile venture.”
Ashley Winter, managing director of Patterson Ford, adds: Emma is our intrepid explorer and her track record of raising money for charity is commendable. Patterson Ford is committed to supporting the local community and charitable causes and we are proud that Emma, Graham and Terry are doing something noteworthy to raise money for a key charity in the North of England.”
