Charity Commission expands public affairs team

The Charity Commission has added two new senior staff to develop its public affairs work.

Sarah Atkinson joins the Commission as its new Head of Corporate Affairs. She will be driving forward a new strategy that links the regulator’s communications and public affairs work, helping to increase awareness of the role and distinctiveness of charities and build on relationships with Parliament and the charity sector. She joins the Charity Commission from Nationwide where she was Public Affairs Manager.

Jane Hobson is the Commisson’s new Head of Policy and will be responsible for bringing together the Commission’s policy agenda including its regulatory, status and public benefit activities.

She will focus on formulating and disseminating policy that reflects charities’ experience and regulatory requirements, with the aim of helping charities to work more effectively.

Jane previously co-ordinated the Commission’s work on the Charities Bill.
