GMTV will once again be encouraging viewers to give their time and be matched to volunteering opportunities by national charity TimeBank during Volunteers Week.

This is the fourth year that GMTV has teamed up with TimeBank to highlight the importance of volunteer work in the UK. This year’s campaign will feature Coronation Street’s Bill Ward, Footballer’s Wives’ star, Zoë Lucker, and Emmerdale’s Sammy Winward.

Working closely with their favourite charities, Bill Ward visited Women’s Aid, Zoë Lucker flew to Zambia with VSO, and Sammy Winward visited Home-Start, to see and film the charities in action.

Moira Swinbank, TimeBank Chief Executive said: “GMTV’s programming brings volunteering to life – inspiring viewers to get out and make a difference in their own communities.

“We register viewers by phone, text and online, helping them to find local opportunities that match their interests and lifestyles. To date the programming has recruited 6000 new volunteers.”

Volunteers’ Week 2006 will broadcast from 30 May to 1 June on GMTV.
