Twenty one/two week media placements for charity staff

Howard Lake | 20 April 2006 | News

The Home Office’s Voluntary Action Media Unit (VAMU) and the Media Trust are offering charity staff the chance to win one of 20 one or two-week placements at top media organisations such as the BBC, ITV and national newspapers.

The Media Connections 2006 Awards are designed to enhance the media skills of people who work in the charity sector by helping them learn how the media works and how they can best work with the media.

The 20 selected charity staff will get a chance to work with experienced journalists and producers, and learn how to improve their charity’s relationship with the media and gain more publicity for its activities.

The Awards, funded by the Baring Foundation, are open to anyone based in the UK who has worked in the voluntary sector for at least two years and has some experience of media relations, but has not already worked in a media organisation.

Applicants can come from any sized charity, but the organisers say they will aim to award the majority of places to organisations with an income of less £750,000 pa.

The closing date for entries is 17.00 on 5 May 2006.
