New search engine to donate 50% to charity

Everyclick.com is a new UK search engine launching later this month which will donate 50% of its gross revenue to charity.

Everyclick.com will enable web users to raise funds for their selected charity at no cost to themselves or the charity, simply by searching online and clicking on one of the results.

Its founders hope to pass on to charity some of the £3.9 billion of global web search revenues that are predicted to be generated this year.

Everyclick.com says that charities including Save the Children, HOPE HIV, and The Meningitis Trust together with local primary schools will benefit.

A charity must be listed before it can benefit. The more a charity’s supporters use the site to search, the greater the proportion of the 50% donation to charity that the charity will earn. Users who do not select a specific charity will benefit all listed charities on a pro rata basis.

The site is already live and can be previewed. It will be launched officially on 16 June 2005.

Like other search engines, it offers web search results, images, news feeds and special features such as Amazon product listings.

UK Fundraising searched everyclick.com for “fundraising” and found that the fundraising.co.uk site comes third and fourth in the results, a decent enough showing.
