Cambridge University to embark on major fundraising drive

Howard Lake | 24 May 2005 | News

Cambridge University is to launch its biggest ever fundraising appeal to raise hundreds of millions of pounds, along the lines of ‘Ivy League’ American university campaigns.
The appeal will tie in with the university’s 800th anniversary celebrations in 2009, according to an interview with Professor Alison Richard, the university’s vice-chancellor, in The Guardian.
The university’s appeal will focus principally on alumni and corporate supporters. Unusually, the 31 colleges have agreed that income received from their own alumni will be credited to the University’s appeal as a whole, although the income will be received by the colleges and funds specified by the donors.
