CAF to host seminar to boost confidence in face-to-face fundraising

Face to face fundraising in the street might be controversial to some people, but it raises significant sums, so its reputation and regulation are important issues. For this reason Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) has called a seminar for interested parties.

CAF is calling on charities to take
self-regulation seriously and so sustain the public’s current confidence in what charities do and how they behave.

Following publication of the Buse report on fundraising and self-regulation,
CAF will bring together fundraisers, charity chief executives, the Charity Commission and government officials in an event that aims to map out a way forward on this difficult area.

The seminar will include contributions from Rodney Buse on the recommendations in his report; and Lindsay Boswell, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising, who will set out the issues now facing charity fundraisers; and CAF’s Chief Executive Stephen Ainger, on transparency in
the sector.

The seminar offers delegates the opportunity to address some of the crucial
concerns surrounding self-regulation, and have their say on the future of
fundraising.

The seminar will take place on 7 May 2004 at the Congress Centre, 23-28 Great Russell Street, London WC1B 3LS.

Tickets for “Fundraising and Self-Regulation: The Way Forward” are priced at £30 + VAT.
