Oxfam Hong Kong reports fraudulent tsunami appeal emails

Howard Lake | 4 January 2005 | News

The Daily Telegraph reports that Oxfam Hong Kong says that elements of its press releases are being used in fraudulent fundraising email messages to capitalise on the current Asian tsunami earthquake appeals.

The fake emails use Oxfam Hong Kong material without permission and, according to the Telegraph, ask recipients to make a donation “into a Cyprus bank account and to fax deposit receipts to an office in Spain.”
