UK Fundraising Forum archive now up to date

The archives of the UK Fundraising Forum now contain all messages featured on the FundUK e-mail discussion list from 1996 to 2003, forming a valuable collection of around two thousand fundraisers’ and consultants’ experience and advice.

The messages have been entered manually into the UK Fundraising Forum, a free discussion forum for fundraisers and fundraising advisers. This process has taken over a year, but at last you can now search every single message to see if another fundraiser has already asked or answered your query.

There are nearly 4,000 messages posted on over 1,400 different topics, making it the UK’s largest online forum for charity fundraisers. FundUK started in 1996 and was the first discussion forum for charity fundraisers in the UK: another list was set up before it but was only available to university fundraisers.

The process of entering all the messages into the new Web-based forum not only ensures that new users can benefit from past messages. It means that all the different discussions have been grouped into threads: for example, sometimes several topics were being discussed at the same time on the FundUK e-mail list. Now, it is much easier to follow the thread of a particular discussion.

There is no charge to use the Forum. We’re pleased to see that it has spawned many other e-mail fora by fundraisers, especially some of the special interest and regional groups of the Institute of Fundraisers. We remain open to requests from groups of fundraisers to set up and run new fora or fundraisers for their members.
