Philip Green, the businessman attempting to take over Marks and Spencer, is to sponsor 50 new specialist schools in England through his high street fashion company Arcadia Group.

Arcadia Group, working with the Specialist Schools Trust, will donate £1.25 million. This will cover half the sponsorship required by secondary schools to become specialist business and enterprise colleges.

According to the BBC, Arcadia Group will also be providing both management expertise and governors to the schools that it sponsors. It will also offer school pupils work experience placements.
