Sense hires Catalyst for donor development

National deafblind charity Sense has appointed charity communications agency Catalyst to work alongside its Direct Marketing team.

The Oxford-based company will take over Sense’s donor development account, previously held by Bluefrog. Headed by Managing Director Marc Middleton-Heath, Catalyst’s main task will be to build Sense’s income through increased donor loyalty. The company is likely to handle at least eight key donor appeals and communications over the coming year.

Marc Middleton-Heath says: “Much of Sense’s work has been successful and we want to help them turn a good programme into a great programme.”

Michael Newsome, Head of Direct Marketing at Sense, said: “Catalyst were appointed amidst extremely stiff competition, primarily for their ability to challenge the team – they offered strategic insights into parts of the programme that we had previously been told couldn’t be bettered. Their fresh and exciting approach also took into account the need for a charity to control costs very tightly.”

Sense will also be working with Cascaid on cold direct mail creative testing, and with Response One, who are providing consultancy and list-buying support on direct mail.
