Online video for nonprofits specialist See3 Communications and YouTube are inviting entries for the 2013 DoGooder Video Awards. These recognise the creative and effective use of video in promoting social good.

The awards are open to nonprofits in the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK.

Four winning charities and nonprofits will each receive $3,500 from technology company Cisco. They will also be featured on the YouTube home page and appear on the popular YouTube Spotlight Channel on 12 April. In addition they will receive free registration to the Nonprofit Technology Conference.

The DoGooder Awards are now in their seventh year. This year, for the first time, the awards have been extended to recognise individuals as well as nonprofit organisations that use video to promote charitable causes.

Michael Hoffman, CEO of See3 Communications, said: “New categories in this year’s contest are recognizing video’s direct role in creating impact, and we will be honoring the individual video-makers who tell stories and do good by making a difference for a cause.”

Jessica Mason, Manager at YouTube for Good, added: “We’re seeing more engaging, informative, and interactive videos that promote great causes. This year’s DoGooder Awards reflect this evolution, with categories that celebrate humorous videos and videos by individuals.

“YouTube is committed to helping more people and nonprofit organizations reach global audiences with important messages and is thrilled that the DoGooder Awards are back for the seventh year to honor those changing their communities and changing the world through online video.”

Video entries are now open and close on 22 March 2013.
