Healthcare company Sanofi is offering to share £50,000 between three patient groups that can demonstrate “ambitious, but realistic campaigns capable of making a lasting difference to the lives of patients” in terms of patient empowerment and information.

Its 2013 Patient Group Bursary Scheme is now open for applications. These can be made by not-for-profit patient groups, whether they are local, national, social enterprises or even professional associations.

The three successful applicants will receive a grant to the value of either £25,000, £15,000 or £10,000.

This is the third year that the bursary scheme has been run. Last year it received 101 applications.

Steve Oldfield, Managing Director of Sanofi UK and Ireland, said: “With the NHS in a state of transition and demands on time and resource ever increasing, at Sanofi we feel that it’s crucial that patient groups are given the support that they need to really make a difference to the lives of patients.”

Applications are open until 1 May 2013.
