Great British Chefs help raise over £86,000 for ChildLine

Howard Lake | 4 December 2012 | News

Last night saw four of the finest young chefs in Great Britain cook for guests at the Great British Chefs Dinner which raised over £86,000 for ChildLine – the UK’s free, confidential 24-hour helpline and online service for vulnerable children and young people provided by the NSPCC.

Top class chefs Adam Stokes, Robert Thompson, Adam Simmonds and Lisa Allen each produced a mouthwatering course for the banquet which was developed in partnership with Great British Chefs – an award-winning digital business that showcases recipes, how-to videos, tips and tricks from over 70 of the best chefs across Britain.

Guests decked out in black tie were also able to bid in an exclusive live auction which featured lots including a luxury seven night holiday in Mauritius, a stunning diamond Boucheron necklace and an elegant wine tasting soiree for twenty people, all of which generated some heated bidding.

Speaking about the event, CEO of Great British Chefs, Ollie Lloyd, said: “We’re delighted to have been involved in this wonderful event, raising vital funds for ChildLine. The chefs who cooked on the night are known for producing some of the most innovative and talked about food in Great Britain, and we’re absolutely delighted to have helped raise over £86,000 to help ChildLine continue its crucial work.”

Chairman of the Great British Chefs Dinner Committee, Mark Wood, said: “All children need someone they can turn to when times are tough, and money raised through events such as this helps ChildLine be there for vulnerable children and young people in need of advice and support. It was fantastic to see these world class chefs come together in support of ChildLine, and we’d like to thank them and all of our generous guests who helped raise so much for this worthy cause.”
