Hum This! app raises funds with mobile music charades
Cause related entertaiment company Digital Giving has created a musical charade app for mobile phones which will help raise funds for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and War Child.
Players are challenged by the app Hum This! to hum and guess tunes from thousands of well-known melodies.
Since October the app has been promoted by partners HMV, O2 and Ticketmaster.

The app is free to download and works on iPad, iPhone, iPod, Android phones and tablets. Users have to find team mates to take part: these could be friends or other contacts found on Facebook. They choose a song or theme to hum, and then have ten seconds in which to record it. The hum is then sent to their team mate to name the tune.
The app is designed to be used anywhere – in a bus queue, out walking, or at home. It gives players the chance to win virtual notes and to win monthly prizes by creating the longest succession of correctly guessed hums in a “Hum Run.”
The income from the charities comes from in-app purchases and from a paid-for version of the app which costs £1.49 and which includes 1,600 virtual notes.
Grant Morgan, Co-Founder of Digital Giving Ltd said: "Using our knowledge and expertise of the very latest technology, we believe that we can engage the world to play and fundraise, while elevating Cause-Related Entertainment to a new level."
Shadi Halliwell, Head of Brand at O2, added: “We love bringing exclusive music experiences to our customers and with Hum This! they’ll be experiencing music in a whole new and fun way. We’re proud to have worked with War Child and Nordoff Robbins for many years and hope their Hum This! game helps their great work continue well on into the future."
