Macmillan hits record £265.4 million income

Macmillan Cancer Support raised £265.4 million in fundraised income during 2025, its highest total on record and £26 million more than in 2024, according to the charity’s 2025 Annual Report and Accounts published this month.
Fundraised income accounted for 99 per cent of Macmillan’s total income of £268.3 million for the year. The record comes as the number of people living with cancer in the UK reaches a record high of around 3.5 million, a figure Macmillan projects will grow to 5.5 million by 2045.
Legacies pass £129 million
Legacy giving remained Macmillan’s largest source of income, accounting for 48.2 per cent of the total, up from 43.2 per cent in 2024. The charity received gifts in the wills of 3,076 people, reaching a record £129.3 million, and recorded its largest ever individual legacy gift: a £22.4 million donation from George Gerald Kingsland Smith, who was inspired by the care his mother received from Macmillan nurses in the late 1990s.

Macmillan’s Coffee Morning campaign marked its 35th anniversary in 2025. More than 1.2 million events have been held since it began in 1990, raising at least £330 million in total. This year’s Coffee Morning falls on Friday 25 September.
New services and grants
The report also records that almost half a million people living with cancer (476,000) used one or more of Macmillan’s information and support services, including its Support Line, Information and Support Centres, Online Community and Buddies service.
The charity piloted a new one-to-one WhatsApp emotional support service, launched its CARE Grants programme for community-led projects, and committed £23.2 million in 2025 to local projects through three Neighbourhood Transformation Funds.
