M&S hosts one-day wardrobe clear-out for Oxfam
On Wednesday Marks & Spencer encouraged its customers to clear out their wardrobes and help raise £1 million for Oxfam as part of the ongoing M&S and Oxfam Clothes Exchange. For one day only, M&S customers were able to donate their unwanted clothing to M&S stores, in return for a £5 voucher.
Shoppers found special ‘Donation Stations’ in M&S stores around the country which were staffed by Oxfam volunteers.
Shoppers who could not benefit from the one-day clearout can still take their unwanted M&S clothing to their nearest Oxfam shop and receive a £5 M&S voucher. These are redeemable when you spend £35 or more on clothing, home and beauty in M&S, and are valid for one month.
The Oxfam and M&S Clothes Exchange has been running since January 2008, and over 1 million shoppers have received their £5 vouchers. The campaign has raised over £3 million and prevented 2,500 tonnes of clothing going to landfill.
