Warburtons crumpets to raise funds for Sue Ryder

Howard Lake | 5 October 2016 | News

This month eight million Warburtons crumpets will be sold in Morrisons stores across the UK, and each one will raise funds for hospice care at healthcare charity Sue Ryder.
Sue Ryder is Morrisons’ national charity partner, and Warburtons is helping it raise even more money for the charity. As a result sales of around 190,000 crumpets each day will help boost income.
Rick Lay, Head of Partnerships at Sue Ryder said:

“We urgently need to raise more funds so we can continue to provide our incredible care. Having support from Morrisons and Warburtons in this fun and engaging way is great and will go a long way in helping us fulfil the increasing demands on our services.”

He added that the charity was encouraging the public to buy the packs of nine crumpets and host a fundraising tea party.
A Warburtons spokesperson said:

“Morrisons has a long history of supporting charities through ‘Raise a Smile’, and we are hugely proud to be involved this year by donating £45k from the sale of nine-pack of crumpets.”

Hospice Care Week

The Crumpets and other items including a Sue Ryder bouquet went on sale in Morrison stores across the UK from 3 October to coincide with Hospice Care Week, an annual week of activity to raise the profile of hospice care across the UK.

Raise a Smile

Morrisons Raise a Smile partnership with Sue Ryder has now raised £6 million, funding community healthcare services, family support teams and Sue Ryder’s Online Community and Support.
