Autism Concern launches emergency appeal

Howard Lake | 10 October 2008 | News

Autism Concern has launched an appeal to raise £150,000 by Christmas because of a funding shortfall.

The charity, formerly known as the Northamptonshire Society for Autism, has seen a major drop in grants and donations. It thinks the credit crunch and general economic downturn are among the factors to blame.

Director Sylvia Tilaks said: “This is the most desperate situation. Our reserves and income are so low that if the money isn’t found, we will have to close for good at Christmas.”

The appeal will include events and online activity. An eBay scheme, lottery and affiliate marketing will also come into play. Autism Concern has already achieved regional TV and newspaper publicity within Northamptonshire.
