Crisis creates world's largest company Christmas card
National homelessness charity Crisis has created the “world’s largest company Christmas card” to launch its Christmas Card Challenge campaign.
Measuring four metres high by three metres wide, (as tall as a London bus) the card has been created using the artistic skills of homeless members at Crisis Skylight.
Leslie Morphy, chief executive of Crisis said: “The Christmas Card Challenge is our most crucial corporate fundraiser helping us raise £1 million. By simply donating the money that would normally be spent on traditional company Christmas cards, businesses can support homeless people while continuing to wish their clients a Merry Christmas. Our aim this year is to have more companies participating in this challenge than ever before.
Since sending a card over four metres tall is virtually impossible, all participating businesses will receive a short film of the artists creating the huge festive masterpiece which they can then email to all their clients as an e-card.
This will be then be followed up with a special ‘thank you’ in a double page advertisement in The Financial Times (UK and global editions) and on FT.com, reaching a global audience of over 1.5 million.
The charity is proud that its campaign offers companies an ethical and environmentally sound alternative to traditional paper Christmas cards. It should also save time, removing the need for signing, stuffing envelopes, sticking stamps and posting.
Some companies such as Allen and Overy, Barclays, Bradford and Bingley and Fidelity International support the campaign year after year.
David Morley, senior partner at Allen & Overy, said: “We have been sending the Crisis e-cards for eight years and have always had great feedback from our clients, as well as from our people, many of whom volunteer their time to Crisis throughout the year”.
