Woodland Trust and Dorothy Perkins' fourth collection
Woodland Trust launches its fourth collection with fashion retailer Dorothy Perkins after partnership brings in record income for the charity
Next month the Woodland Trust launches a new organic clothing range with Dorothy Perkins, 12 months after the first collection launched and following last year’s successful collaboration which generated record income for the charity from one company in a year.
The Trust embarked on the partnership in May 2007 with hopes of raising £200,000 to plant 40,000 trees. But the partnership proved so successful with customers, media and Dorothy Perkins store and head office staff alike that Summer and Winter collections followed, generating an overall total of £500,000.
These funds enabled the Woodland Trust to plant 100,000 trees throughout the UK.
Nikola Smith, corporate fundraiser at the Woodland Trust, said: “We’re delighted to be moving into a second year with Dorothy Perkins. As well as the partnership exceeding all expectations financially, we’ve benefitted from the exposure to millions of young women who we traditionally find hard to reach. Dorothy Perkins has given us every opportunity to target their consumers, including window displays in 600 stores and a campaign microsite at dorothyperkins.com. It’s also helping us to target a younger generation of celebs who have loved the t-shirts and worn them proudly on TV and in the press.”
The Summer 08 collection launches in over 300 Dorothy Perkins stores nationwide and online at dorothyperkins.com from early June and includes wellington boots (£20), hooded tops ( £25), t-shirts (£16), camisoles (£14), flip-flops (£6), shopper bags (£8) and a charm bracelet (£11).
£5 from every t-shirt, camisole, hooded top, wellington boots, bracelet and £1.50 from the shopper bags and flip-flops will be donated to the Trust and £5 plants a tree.
The Woodland Trust’s corporate fundraising team hit record income last year of more than £2.5m, and that was due in no small part to its partnership with Dorothy Perkins.
