£1.6 million from London Councils for tackling child poverty
London Councils is seeking applications from voluntary groups in London to provide services to tackle the impact of child poverty in the capital.
Over the next four years it is offering £1.6 million grant funding for groups which can help tackle issues highlighted by The London Child Poverty Commission, including breaking the multiple barriers to escaping poverty and tackling the impact that poverty has on families.
London Councils intends to fund one or two organisations to deliver services in this area, especially those helping people living in social housing in areas of high unemployment and poverty.
The closing date for applications is midday on 11 July 2008. The schemes put forward by organisations for funding must cover two or more boroughs, and joint bids by a number of organisations will be considered.
London Councils’ members invest £28 million a year funding over 300 voluntary organisations.
