John Frieda’s HAIRraising appeal raised £2m for GOSH

Melanie May | 3 March 2017 | News

John Frieda and the hairdressing community have raised £2 million for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity through the HAIRraising appeal.
The HAIRraising appeal was founded by John Frieda in 2010 with an initial target of raising £1 million for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and has just ended. It brought together members of the UK hairdressing industry to fundraise for the charity in events such as the annual Round the Island Ibiza Cycle Challenge and in-salon fundraising.
The money raised has supported the redevelopment of the hospital, including helping to fund new operating theatres, which opened in 2012, and a new respiratory unit, which will officially open next autumn.
John Frieda said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to have raised £2 million for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. From bike rides and challenges to in-salon fundraising, I’m so proud of everything we’ve achieved for such a worthy cause and I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us and donated over the years.”

“An enormous thank you to John Frieda and everyone in the British hairdressing industry involved in the HAIRraising appeal for raising a phenomenal £2 million for the hospital. The new specialist spaces this has helped create in the hospital has, and will, improve the quality of care and increase the number of children we can treat.”
