JustGiving’s #RunningforGood hub inspires London Marathon runners to fundraise
JustGiving has launched its Running for Good hub to support and inspire charities and fundraisers in the run-up to the London Marathon, which this year takes place on 23rd April.
The #RunningforGood hub is a collection of guides and case studies, plus some digital ‘gifts’ to inspire runners to go the extra mile (or 26) in boosting their fundraising total.
Although mostly aimed at individuals, the hub is also a useful resource for charities too, who can direct their runners to it rather than have to create similar content on their own site.
Indeed, both charities and individuals can use the ‘clearing portal’ which connects would-be runners with charities who still have spaces available.

- Haroon Mota’s marathon tips
Haroon has run the London marathon three times for charity since 2012. Commenting on how he keeps himself motivated, Mota said:
“I raised over £5,000 in my first Marathon. I had such huge support from friends, family, my community & local media, and it gave me so much more motivation. I didn’t want to let my donors down, and I felt that I owed them for their support so I ensured that I kept myself going.
“It’s never easy training through the winter, but when you have a solid reason to run, nothing can dampen your motive. I told myself that regardless of weather conditions, and regardless of how lazy or achy I might have been, I would always get my training done.”
Fundraising ideas
There’s a fundraising ideas section to help further boost the amount runners can raise. These include:
- hold an event
- do a good deed in return for a donation
- take up a challenge
GIFS and gifts
The hub has a fun section too, where runners can download ready-made GIFs to share with their supporters as they get ever-closer to their fundraising target.
There is also a collection of Spotify playlists to keep runners inspired – or entertained – as they train. Our recommendation? Running Autobahn – “a slightly more esoteric collection of German rock from the 70’s”.
Deborah Goschalk, Digital Marketing Lead at JustGiving, explained why the Running for Good hub had been created. She said:
“Over the last 15 years’ hundreds of thousands of London marathon runners have raised more money on JustGiving for the causes they care about and we’ve learned a lot about how to give them the best experience. Our new #RunningforGood hub is a place where we can bring together what we’ve learnt over the years, so that anyone who wants to raise more money for charity can find the tips, support and encouragement they need.”
