Al-Khair Foundation raises £400,000 for MATW with honorary tour for founder
Al-Khair Foundation has raised £400,000 for charity through a tour honouring an entrepreneur with terminal cancer who has raised millions for humanitarian projects.
Australian Ali Banat started selling his assets following his diagnosis to establish the charity Muslims Around the World (MATW), which aims to build a village which will be home to over 200 widows, a masjid for the local community and a school to house 600 orphans, along with a mini hospital/medical centre and local business support.
Al-Khair Foundation created the UK tour for Banat to help him spread his message and raise more funds for MATW. It visited London, Birmingham and Bolton and saw Imam Qasim, the founder and chairman of Al-Khair Foundation, discuss Ali Banat’s inspirational journey from entrepreneur to providing aid in some of the poorest countries in Africa after being diagnosed with cancer. The events were also broadcast by Al-Khair’s IQRA TV channel.
The events saw one hundred houses pledged for Banat’s housing projects housing homeless widows and orphans in Africa, and the Foundation has also launched a project for the mothers and children of Gaza, where Banat was born.
Banat said:
“After someone tells you, or you find out that you are sick or haven’t got much time in this life, wealth is the last thing you want to chase and this is how we should be living our life every day. My goal is to complete the projects that I have already started – such as my housing projects for widows and orphans.”
