Charity Commission helpline now open for longer

Howard Lake | 28 November 2006 | News

From today, Charity Commission Direct, the helpline for Trustees, charity advisers and members of the public, is extending its opening hours.
Six months after the helpline service was launched, Charity Commission staff will now be taking calls from 08.00 to 20.00 during the week and from 09.00 to 13.00 on Saturdays, compared to the previous 08.30 to 18.00 Monday to Friday service.
Charity Commission Direct was launched on 16 May 2006 as the central point of receipt for customer enquiries whether by letter, email or phone and receives 26,000 contacts a month.
Charity Commission Direct can be contacted on 0845 300 0218. The Commission says that it will carry out a formal review of the impact of the extended service in 12 months time.

Editor’s note 15 April 2016
We receive a surprising number of phone calls and emails asking us for the Charity Commission’s telephone number, partially based on this news item from 2006, 10 years ago. Please don’t ask: we’ll simply suggesting that you visit the Charity Commission’s website and communicate with them via that, as they suggest.
