BTA to lead fundraising drive for Scottish Rugby Museum
The Raeburn Place Foundation (RPF) has appointed Scottish fundraising consultancy Bruce Tait Associates (BTA) to help it restore the birthplace of international rugby for community use in a £17 million capital campaign.
Abeer Macintyre, Managing Director of the Stirling-based consultancy, will begin the fundraising project as Interim Capital Appeal Director while also assisting the foundation in developing its fundraising strategy and activity. BTA will also manage the recruitment of a Capital Appeal Director on a more permanent basis.
First rugby international match venue
Raeburn Place, in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh, was the venue of the first rugby international in 1871 and the first Calcutta Cup match in 1879. It has also been the venue for both rugby and cricket international matches and hosted the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 1994.

The Foundation plans to restore Raeburn Place and open it to the local community, as well as to host a new Museum of International Rugby. Its aims to create a facility which can be used by people to come together, play, watch, appreciate and celebrate sport, irrespective of background or ability.
Abeer Macintyre said:
“I am personally delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Raeburn Place fundraising programme over the coming months. This famous sports ground has a rich heritage and the Foundation’s plans to recreate a valuable part of Scotland’s history and also open it up to the whole community for wider benefit makes this a doubly exciting and worthy cause. I am confident we can accelerate the good progress achieved to date and support the drive to get the redevelopment work underway next May as planned”.
