Voltek1000 to raise funds for Gurkha Welfare Trust in memory of Olympic stuntman

Family and friends of Mark Sutton, the stuntman who parachuted over the Olympic stadium at the 2012 Opening Ceremony, are cycling 1000km this week for The Gurkha Welfare Trust’s earthquake response in Nepal.
In memory of Mark, who died in a wing-suiting accident a year after the Olympics and his cousin Tim, who died of cancer shortly after, the team are taking on the Voltrek1000 – a 1,000km bike ride from Mark’s home in Shere to his place of death in Chamonix.
The team is backed by Joanna Lumley and Danny Boyle, and have already beaten their £20,000 fundraising target.

Lumley, vice patron of the charity, said:
“The money raised will support our old Gurkha soldiers and their communities in Nepal, who need our help now more than ever. So many were affected by the recent earthquakes and this will help them to recover and rebuild.”
