Action Aid launches online community for its volunteer fundraisers
Development charity ActionAid has launched a new community website, MyActionAid.org.uk, offering fundraisers and supporters the chance to publicise their event, collect donations and then blog about their experience.
Like online fundraising sites, users will be able to use the site to collect, monitor and invite donations from their friends, families and colleagues.
The site aims to exploit the social media or ‘Web 2.0’ trend exemplified by sites such as MySpace and Bebo, so it encourages users to write blogs and upload pictures, swap ideas and discuss their sponsored event with like-minded people.

Supporters can also use the site to access the most up to date resources and fundraising support from ActionAid.
Simon Molloy, ActionAid Head of Community Fundraising, said: “We wanted to create an online community that would give every one who raises money for ActionAid the chance to show the world what they’re planning and make it easy for them to raise as much money as possible.”
