Screwfix Foundation raises a million for charity
The Screwfix Foundation has raised more than £1 million for local charities and community groups since its launch three years ago.
The Foundation supports charity projects that fix, maintain, repair and improve community or charitable facilities across the UK. To date, it has supported hundreds of charities local to Screwfix stores in addition to providing national charities, Barnardo’s and Macmillan, with funding to complete over 200 projects nationwide.
One of the biggest fundraising events to date has been the Tour de Screwfix. Over 900 Screwfix employees took part in the 6,100-mile national cycle relay between all of the stores last year, raising £81,000 for charity, which was then matched by Screwfix.
Screwfix’s customers have also been heavily involved, through the contributions to charity boxes in store, by supporting Screwfix staff in fundraising events and via the digital charity box, Pennies, through which so far, customers have raised over £200,000 for The Screwfix Foundation.
John Mewett, trustee of The Screwfix Foundation said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for The Screwfix Foundation and its supporters. It demonstrates the real impact we can have on local charities and communities when we rally together. The Screwfix Foundation has supported many well-deserved causes since it was launched in 2013 and this would not have been possible without the continued support and donations from Screwfix’s customers and employees”.
Local registered charities are invited to apply for funding from The Screwfix Foundation and can visit their local Screwfix store to pick up The Screwfix Foundation Leaflet for more information. Application forms can also be downloaded from www.screwfixfoundation.com.
