Former England Rugby Captain Ugo Monye is taking on the BT MyDonate Nine Hour Challenge to raise money for BT Sport’s The Supporters Club.
The mountain biking and hiking event takes place on 23rd April in the Lake District, and raises funds for Action Medical Research, BBC Children in Need, Missing People and The Supporters Club. More than £450,000 has been raised for charity since the event launched in 2013.
The most challenging route combination is the black route, which Monye has signed up to, which comprises a 38km bike ride with 1,000 metres of ascent, followed by a 12km hike with 800 metres of ascent. Shorter routes are also available including the red 30km bike ride and 10km hike route, and a 20 km green hike only route.

The Supporters Club helps community projects and charities that use sport to help disadvantaged young people in the UK and overseas with donations from BT and its customers invested into projects selected in partnership with Comic Relief. When customers sign up to BT Sport, they are given the opportunity to take out a £1, £3 or £5 monthly subscription to The Supporters Club to help support its projects.
Sam Calvert, director of go-to-market and channel at BT, said:

“The BT MyDonate Nine Hour Challenge is hugely important to us and the variety of routes allows people of all abilities to take part and raise money for their chosen charity.”

“I’m really looking forward to taking part in the BT MyDonate Nine Hour Challenge and raising money for The Supporters Club. It’s going to take a lot of mental as well as physical strength to get through it. I am sure it will be a really tough experience but I will have some great people alongside me to help push me to the end.”
