Diplomatic effort raises money for Irish charities

Charities are being invited to apply for funds raised by Ireland’s diplomats under the banner of the International Charity Bazaar (ICB).
The ICB raises funds for Irish registered charities through various annual events and activities, including the the Diplomatic Ball, International Charity Bazaar, from which the charity gets its name, and the sales of the International Charity Cookbook.
In the past five years ICB has raised funds for a wide range of charities, including the Fr McVerry Trust, Focus Ireland, SPIRASI, The Lantern Centre, The Lord Mayor’s Fuel Fund, Sisters of St Joseph, Headstrong, Irish Wheelchair Association, Ruhama, DeafHear, Dun Laoghaire Refugee Project, Localise and the Marie Keating Foundation.

In 2012 all 52 diplomatic missions represented in Ireland worked with members of the Irish community to support the ICB’s fundraising work.
The annual bazaar gives an average of 3,000 visitors the chance to “experience the world in a day” with offerings from a wide variety of countries and cultures. The bazaar last year raised over €50,000.
The maximum grant is €20,000 and the deadline for applications is 31 March 2014. ICB will not fund salaries or bursaries.
