Computer Aid wins Royal Warrant for computer recycling

Computer Aid International has been awarded a Royal Warrant of Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen for the provision of computer recycling services. This is the first time that a UK charity has received a Royal Warrant for services.
Consequently, Computer Aid is now allowed to use the Royal arms on all its marketing and communications materials.
Keith Sonnet, Chief Executive at Computer Aid, said:
“Everyone at Computer Aid is delighted to have been honoured in this way and it was a reflection of the high quality service they provide. Computer Aid refurbishes PCs and other ICT equipment for use throughout the world to overcome the disadvantage faced by so many people. Computer Aid has been collecting and refurbishing PCs from the Royal Household for a number of years”.

Formed in 1998, Computer Aid aims to alleviate poverty and overcome discrimination through the use of information and communications technology in development. In so doing it aims also to bridge the digital divide between rich and poor people.
So far is has provided nearly 250,000 PCs and laptops to people in over 100 countries. PC donors in the UK include Betfair, Buckingham Palace, Virgin, Investec, Pepsico, DFID, British Airways, Sainsbury’s and the WWF.
