Feedies turns food photos into food for hungry children
Americans spend nearly $2 billion a day eating out in restaurants and cafes. Photo-sharing app Feedie aims to divert a proportion of that to help feed hungry children in South Africa, combining the trend in sharing food photographs and local advertising and CSR for restaurants.
Diners can take a photo with the app, much as they would with Instagram. It comes with some photo filters that can enhance the look of the food. When you share your photo with your social networks, the restaurant makes a donation to The Lunchbox Fund in South Africa. Photos taken are branded “to stand out from all other food photos”.
The post advertises the restaurant as the source of the donation, so the restaurant should benefit from its support of this initiative. “Now your food not only looks and tastes good, it does good”.
Feedies launched in New York. But with over 6 million Americans using food apps, its founders are confident it can raise substantial sums of money to feed more hungry children.
