Vodafone employees have raised £280,000 for charities as part of the company’s JustTextGiving £100 Challenge.

In the summer the staff were challenged to raise £100 each to support charities using the JustTextGiving mobile donations service. The Foundation Foundation offered to match each £100 raised.

With their own Vodafone Individual Code (VIC), employees could raise money for their chosen charity and urge friends, colleagues and contacts to donate via text using the code. Donations can be made under Gift Aid and 100% of the donation is passed to the charity.

Staff took part in various activities ranging from sky diving and bungee jumping to marathons, cake sales and a musical soiree.

The £280,000 raised will benefit more than 630 large and small charities across the country. F1 champion Jenson Button yesterday visited Vodafone HQ to congratulate the employees.

So far over 50,000 people have registered for their own VIC and over 17,000 charities are using JustTextGiving.

Emer Boulter, Head of HR Business Partnering, Vodafone UK said: “This has been a powerful challenge as it combined employee engagement and product advocacy while fundraising. Our employees have seen for themselves, often for the first time, just how powerful JustTextGiving can be in fundraising.”
